Drop Cap Grading notes. First Edition Mysteries uses the following terms to describe mystery books and dust jackets:

Books

F: Fine. An essentially new, probably unread book.
NF: Near fine. A book with minor flaws such as bumps or a very slight spine slant.
VG: Very good. A book with significant flaws usually noted in the description.
RM: Remainder mark.

Dust Jackets

F: Fine. An essentially new dust jacket with only very insignificant flaws, if any.
NF: Near fine. A dust jacket with minor flaws such as short closed tears or edge wear.
VG: Very good. A dust jacket with significant flaws usually noted in the description.
NDJ: No dust jacket. A book published without a dust jacket.

A near fine book with a remainder mark in a fine dust jacket would be described as "NF/F-RM". If you have a question about the condition of any book, e-mail First Edition Mysteries for a more detailed description.

All mystery books are US, British, Canadian, Croatian, Danish, German, Italian, or Japanese first editions unless otherwise specified. Dust jackets are protected by clear mylar jacket covers.
